I’m personally saddened to see Bitmart drop ZedRun. I’m a fan of ZedRun from the very start of their creation. Upon the latest update to start the New Year I’ve noticed a multiple of changes. I’m going to go over the changes I’ve noticed in ZedRun, and provide a strategy moving forward with the new class adjustment when buying a horse.
EVERYONE STARTS SOMEWHERE
I’ve always wanted a horse. I still want a horse. I may have a horse one day in the future. I know a horse is a massive amount of work. I don’t know how to manage a horse. I know a horse is very expensive. My love of horses has taken me on trail rides. But, I want to love in a significant way. Perhaps, I’ll find the horse of my dreams. Today, my horses are virtual. Which, is cleaner than I dreamed. It’s possible that I’m in love with ZedRun.

The New Year adjustment arrived, and I took notice. I continued playing the game as usual. I noticed a number of my horses were selling. I referenced each horse as it sold. I realized that the purchases made were mostly relative to win percentage. However, it was the fire up factor that sold the ZedRun horses like hotcakes. The fire up doesn’t always mean your horse is going to win. But, it’s a good indictor.
DO ALL HORSES FIRE UP?
Not all horses fire up in ZedRun. While, there’s infinite possibility for change in the future. And, the update hosts a difference in horses race class. Not all horses fire up. That doesn’t mean that they can’t come with a great win percentage.
WHAT’S THE NEW STRATEGY MOVING FORWARD?
In the beginning, there were glitches in the strategy processing. My personal strategy was to learn the game first. While learning I was lured into the idea to breed. There aren’t many horses that have performed worse than the horse that I minted first time out. I thought; “What am I doing just breeding for the sake of completing the task?” I was able to use a horse that actually placed in the money when entering free tournament events. However, I quickly changed my strategy. I’ll share my latest breed, and talk about my effort to make a pure color coat.
BREEDING
“You may be able to live on love. But, it may not produce the best racehorse.”
A recent update changed the pricing of breeding. Just before that update Sloppy Waters was born. My cost at the time was 0.0216 ETH to mint. My legendary Sloppy Russian is a Burlywood Pure Color Coat. The selection of mate considered a number of horses. The goal was to get lucky, and produce a Burlywood. The odds improve when selecting two horses of the same coat to produce the coat of their parent. The simple train of thought; “If a stallion has a 15% win percentage, and its father is a stallion with an 18% win percentage. The grandfather with a 17% win percentage is also a stallion. Should the offspring produce a stallion it’s likely to race like its forefathers.” In the case of Sloppy Russian the ideal reproduction might be the improved version of the mare.
With breeding in mind the advanced filters on Hawku offer legacy filtration by father, mother, and grandparent. Using these filters, and isolating the type of horse you’re trying to produce, can assist your farm in a better chance at reproducing a winner. My first in Ramapo was a sale for a loss. A lot of horses can go for a loss. I’ve noticed that the floor price purchases are often horses that aren’t fire ups. In other words, the horses that don’t fire up can still win, fire isn’t absolutely necessary. With that said, let’s talk about a horse with some fire!
Funny story! In the ZedRun Discord someone challenged me to a race! They wanted Sloppy Waters. I made Sloppy Waters with Sunlit Waters and Sloppy Russian. I was expecting a Sunlit Russian. However, I didn’t get the Burlywood coat. A man named Jim said he was interested in racing me down the Griffen track! I took second place! Sloppy Waters was able to win 0.006 ETH from the very start! At a cost of 0.0216 ETH I can only accept a bid of over 0.02 ETH to clear a profit. Making breeding a costly endeavor when comparing investments into horses flipped. In the case of purchasing Cotton Candy Zoomin the truth was visible in the fire up wins.
PURCHASING
I sold a few horses from party farmhouse farms for a profit. To locate your transfer look for the three horizontal lines on the left of the Hawku website. In the dropdown menu you’ll see my items, bids, transactions, saved lists, all games, and learn. Select transactions. My window reflects the sale of Pablo Acosta purchased at 0.005 ETH, and sold for 0.0065 ETH. Sinfonia ild was purchased for 0.001 ETH, and sold for 0.009 ETH. Sinfonia ild was likely sold because it began firing up in the 2400m after the update. Champagne Miracle sold for 0.008 ETH and was purchased for 0.0035 ETH. I noticed this horse also began firing up after the update. My previous sale on Hawku in comparison to these horses was months ago with Scruffy Cross. Scruffy Cross sold for 0.017 ETH and was purchased for 0.0015 ETH. That covers the current flipping to understand where capital to buy more horses arrives.
Let’s go over my recent purchases, and discover which one I like the best. Cotton Candy Zoomin, King Ape, Time Weaver, Electrikz, Fullmetal Super, and Connor Jack. All of the above horses provide a potential to profit. But, not all horses are so fortunate. When purchasing below 0.01 ETH there are few great horses. In reality, the great horses are discoverable using the fire indicator. Fullmetal Super is a 6 horse fire up consistently in the free races. The paid races are most likely the stiffest competition in the game. Especially, during the tournament times. Fullmetal Super is a pure color breed with all legacy above presenting the color eminence. On the other hand, my favorite is Cotton Candy Zoomin. My favorite because it’s back to back win percentage made the Stallion a viable stud.
HOW DO I LOCATE A GREAT HORSE?
ZedRun offers a number of places that a NFT can be purchased for the races. This blog article is specific to the selection of Cotton Candy Zoomin. After purchasing the horses with my event winning, and Sloppy Waters Griffen profit, I fell in love with Cotton Candy Zoomin. Connor Jack was a pure color breed. But, Connor Jack wasn’t winning many races. There was fire from Connor Jack in previous races. However, at current Connor Jack is less likely to fire. The fire consideration, and win percentage were a factor.
Once on Hawku I clicked ZedRun horses. Next I clicked filter. My previous 0.001 ETH bid and counter offers were finished. I had 0.006 ETH to budget for a horse. Set the price to your budget for a single horse. Under horse type you can select between a Stallion, Colt, Filly, and Mare. I selected a Stallion for the purpose of being a stud. The current breeding schematic has arrived at different prices for stud fees dependent on breed type and bloodline. I selected paid races and entered 1 on the left hand side. I entered 8% in the win area. In Recent Race Filters (2.0 only) dropdown I placed a 1 in the recent win % left hand box. Scrolling to the bottom I selected father filters. Stallion with 12% win %. Finally, I clicked save. This process allowed me to filter the horses that were available for sale on Hawku. My interest was in fire percentage as well. The sort bar allowed me to select 12 Horse Fire % (high-low). Here is the filter on Hawku that’s just been provided a step by step tutorial.
The list of horses provided a number of fire up horse that were not tested since the new update. There is a chance that those horses will sustain their fire. Cotton Candy Zoomin was proven to fire up in current paid races. My decision was made easier for that reason. I would enter the horse into the 1000m. At 1,000m Cotton Candy Zoomin was able to win back to back in the 1,000m with a 50% fire up. In the ZedRun discord other players offered links to tools where previous split times are made visible.
I’m fortunate to have picked up a horse for the right price that met my needs. The Filly search begins for the purpose of studding my winning most horse. At current my best comes with the sweet taste of cotton candy on your lips! I wanted to provide this information to assist those following this blog in selecting competitive horses. I only participate in free races. I select horse with paid attributes because it’s a more competitive field. I hope this information helps you advance your strategy moving forward with the game.
MONEY MANAGEMENT
ZedRun offers paid races. But, not all jurisdictions allow for entry into such events. Therefore, ZedRun’s localization offers the ability to determine if you’re in legal bounds to run a paid race. If so, it’s considered gambling. *I do not elect to use the option of gambling. If you’re a math wiz, and have calculated my winnings, you may notice there’s additional ETH missing? Well, the ETH isn’t missing because it’s been converted into ZED token. The ZedRun update purchasing strategy has been updated!
The Zed Token can be used for a number of things. First of all it can be swapped into MATIC. In the event you needed to access something from this game that can be converted into a different currency for cash out ZED holdings may become a primary interest. With 15 horses in Loan my current stable only shows 78 of 93 horses owned by Party Farmhouse Farms. A permit cost is 250 ZED Tokens. When logged in click my stable, click racehorses on loan, click manage racehorses, when holding ZED you’ll be able to purchase or sell a permit back to ZED in this window. Relinquish offers the opportunity to restore your coins into ZED. With that in mind a percentage of my sales goes into the ZED token for safe keeping in permits. With 93 horses it’s extremely difficult to manage all the horses. Zed Token may be a place you want to investigate for your money management when flipping horses. 15 x 250 = (3750 ZED TOKENS) At anytime I can easily gain access to my ZED tokens. My horses on loan may be entered into paid races, and wins offer a 50/50 split of payout.
STUDDING
It’s an adventure thus far. This game is certainly complex in its many facets. It’s colorful as a deep blue tanzanite with natural pink hues. Studding considers elements of decay that are currently uncharted waters. It’s likely decay only represents the reproduction value, and doesn’t effect the horses racing attributes. There are plenty of studs with a good number of horses produced. To get a competitive stud in the window provides another avenue of potential revenue to be gained. **Cotton Candy Zoomin won two races, and in its category (with cotton candy color) it’s the winning most available stud. (**Timestamp February 1st 2023 6:34 PM EST) The cost to stud Cotton Candy Zoomin is 0.026 ETH. Should this horse get bites on stud opportunities its value increases. Cotton Candy Zoomin is my best chance at a stud this evening.
